Jamie Carragher likens Spurs player to Roberto Firmino
Jamie Carragher believes that Harry Kane can play like Firmino does at Liverpool, which could help the English striker prolong his career.
Kane seems to have a more withdrawn and free role under Mourinho this season. He constantly drops deep and lays passes to his teammates. This season, Kane has already assisted seven goals and scored five goals so far this season.
Carragher likened Kane’s change in the style of play to that of Liverpool’s Firmino. Speaking on Sky Sports Football, he said:
“I have been watching Kane’s position actually when they were playing around the back.
“The two wide players, Bergwijn, Son, playing really narrow, almost like Liverpool in some ways where Firmino drops deep and Salah and Mane play really narrow.
“Just watching Kane dropping in and picking up the ball, it’s something definitely maybe not right now – he is doing it right now – but certainly in the future, certainly prolong his career.”
As Tottenham look to integrate Gareth Bale to the team, who is a goalscorer himself rather than provider, Kane could be seen more in a deeper role this season.
