Tottenham player urged to leave the club in January
Former Leeds United and England defender Danny Mills have urged Dele Alli to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window.
Spurs made major signings in the transfer window to bolster their squad. They seem like a more balanced side than last season. The team is starting to shape up and the manager could soon have a trusted eleven players to start most of the matches.
However, one player who was integral last season but has been missing out on the first eleven and even the whole squad is Dele Alli. He has already been left out of the squad on six occasions and has only played 198 minutes of football this season.
Mills is of the opinion that Dele Alli needs a change of scenario. Speaking to Sky Football Show, he said:
“Sometimes you need a fresh challenge and a fresh start. He’s been at Tottenham a long time and he’s been incredibly successful. But I think that if he doesn’t show what Mourinho wants to see between now and the end of January, he might need something different, a new challenge.”
“I’m sure there’ll be plenty of takers because undoubtedly he’s still got a lot of talent. But at the moment he can’t seem to find it.”
It was rumored that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in the Englishman’s services earlier this season. However, no move materialized and the midfielder stayed at the club.
But, if the present scenario persists, Alli could find himself looking for a new club in January.
